Federica Ferrari was born in the enchanting city of Venice.
From a young age, she was fascinated by the diverse expressive possibilities of the voice and knew that music would be her future.
However, the path to becoming a professional musician was not an easy one. Although this dream was always present, life in her early years left little room for formal training.
In the late 1990s, she moved to Vienna – a city like no other in terms of musical variety and creative energy. Here, Federica found her home, but it took some time before she could truly follow her musical dream. It was only in 2015 that she began her studies in jazz singing at the Vienna Conservatory, where she further honed her musical skills and discovered a true artistic haven in jazz: the freedom to improvise, the play with
unconventional harmonies, and the intense emotional expressiveness of jazz provided her with the space she needed to fully unleash her creativity.
But it was her encounter with Brazilian music that gave her career an entirely new direction. The gentle flow of Bossa Nova, the vibrant rhythms of Samba, and the lyrical melodies of Brazil captured her heart and expanded her musical repertoire in ways she had never expected.
In 2020, during a time when the world had come to a standstill, she released her first album: A Jóia Escondida – The Hidden Jewel. It was a heartfelt tribute to Brazilian music as well as a reflection of her personal journey – discovering new soundscapes and realizing a long-held dream. The album’s tracks blend her jazz training with Brazilian rhythms and melodies, crafting a rich and welcoming ambiance that carries listeners to far-off places.
Following this success, her second work soon followed: Silêncio, an homage to the Brazilian composer Edu Lobo. This album reveals a mature artist who feels at home not only in one genre but within the very depths of music itself. The pieces on Silêncio are marked by sensitivity and a deep connection to the musical Brazilian world.
Federica Ferrari still resides in Vienna today, where she pursues her musical journey.
Her concerts make room for the free spirit of jazz and are filled with intimacy and passion, a one-of-a-kind fusion that continues to touch her audience time and time again.
Her story is proof that, with determination and passion, a dream can come true even later in life. With her courage to embrace new musical worlds, she has not only found her own path but has also paved the way for many others who are inspired by her music.
